I got into the porn business, making films for Zeus Studios. while attending Arizona State. I used to drive over to L.A. on weekends to shoot these fetish films to pay for college.
Around that time that I met the owners of Rob of Amsterdam on a trip to Europe. They had just bought Drummer Magazine, and they liked me, and hired me to be manager of a Rob of Amsterdam store they were opening in San Francisco. That's how I wound up in San Francisco, and the rest is history.
You were also in a few movies for Zeus weren't you, like Cum-A-Thon and Captive Men II?

Hot. I am going to go home and watch Cum-A-Thon on NakedSword Direct. How did LeatherBound come together?
It's my job to come up with the concepts and storylines for all of the Buckshot Production movies I direct, as John does for the COLT-branded movies he directs. Following the success of John and Jerry Douglas' BuckleRoos, I had big shoes to fill.
Knowing me well, John suggested doing a leather movie. I wanted to make it real leather, and edgy, not just suck-and-fuck wearing leather and not the conventional whipping scene now-suck-my-dick movie. I talked with my good friend Cirus at Mr. S. Leather, who loved the idea, and we talked to the owner Richard Hunter. Richard let us use his store as a location only because it was COLT/Buckshot and he trusted us to present his Mr. S. Leather brand properly. I was thrilled.

What is the concept?
Dean Phoenix plays an Abercrombie & Fitch-style ingenue who meekly comes into Mr. S. to buy his first pair of chaps. Gus Mattox — who has his "boy", Sam Shadon, caged nearby — is the manager, who directs Dean upstairs to get fitted. Dean loses his shyness and ends up fucking the tailor, Joey Milano.
How does Jason Crew get used as a "human dildo"?
Jason comes in to get fitted for a straitjacket. He's locked into the leather straitjacket and tied securely in place inside a giant cage so he can't move from side to side or touch his own dick at all. What is your dream project?
This straitjacket scene has been my dream scene to shoot forever. I tried to shoot it seven years ago in a movie called Bondage & Discipline for another company. But nobody could stay hard, it was a disaster! Having this one work out was a dream come true, I loved it!
Was Jason Crew turned on by the straitjacket? I could see someone being a little freaked out.

It came about because the guys on the Derek & Romaine show on Sirius OUTQ satellite radio were really good and did a ton of press for BuckleRoos. They had Zak, Dean, and Owen Hawk all on the show. And a lot of truckers listen to that show. We had all these gay truckers calling in volunteering to let us use their big-rigs for our movie!
Do you have any tips for aspiring porn directors?
I'm not going to give away all my secrets. That's top secret information! So, no.
You're only in your thirties. And yet, do you feel you've done it all / seen it all?
Just when I think I have, something comes along that shocks me or surprises me. I don't think you ever can see it all, especially when it comes to sex.
