Danny Roddick's shocking and unexpected death just days after the release of Buckshot Productions' most-anticipated release of the year, Brotherhood—in which Roddick has the starring role and appears in all six scenes—certainly puts a strange and tragic spin on the movie.I wasn't sure whether it would be appropriate to write about the DVD, which landed on my desk a couple days ago. But I knew I was going to watch the DVD, so I figured I might as well write about it.
The concept is excellent—a college frat boy is secretly making gay porn for extra cash, and when he is found out, his frat brothers have him over a barrel. He needs to get creative to figure a way out.
And the frat brothers are hot, hot, hot—not just Roddick, but studs we all know and lust after like Jan Fischer, Dean Phoenix, Trey Casteel, Jorden Michaels, Sebastian Rivers and others.
The movie opens with a sinister series of words appearing in close-up on a computer screen (which turns out to be Danny Roddick's, though he isn't home at the time). The words are being typed by a mysterious figure wearing tight rubber gloves.
"BROTHER CHANDLER, RESIGN FROM THIS FRATERNITY WITHIN 24 HOURS OR ELSE! ... THERE IS NO ROOM IN THIS HOUSE FOR A FAG WHO MAKES PORN MOVIES!!"
Danny Roddick
While "Brother Chandler" (Roddick) is still oblivious to the threat, director Jerry Douglas shoots him standing outside the frat house—Chi Chi Chi, or XXX in Greek letters—looking up at the fraternity's logo and beaming with pride. Innocent and oblivious to what he is soon in for, the moment is more poignant than the filmmakers could have envisioned.
When Danny finds the electronic message on his computer, he consults roommate Jan Fischer, who is already in on Roddick's gay secret (in fact, they're boyfriends). They also already know that Kurt Wild and Justin Burkshire, who play glasses-wearing geeks, are secret lovers. But they try to determine who the homophobic culprit could be—and how, if he's straight, he managed to see Roddick in a gay porn.

"One of the brothers is blackmailing me, and I've got to get something on him," Roddick decides. He'll wait till the brothers come home drunk and then, "before the night is over, I'm gonna have [sex with] every breeder brother in this fraternity!"
Screenwriter Douglas has created quite a variety of young frat characters, and some of the seduction scenes are (more or less) believable even on the movie's outlandish terms.
Sebastian Rivers
When Trey Casteel's girlfriend finds out he doesn't shave his pubes, she cancels their engagement to get engaged. What is Trey going to do? he asks Roddick. Thinking quickly, Roddick offers to shave Casteel's pubes for him. Good thinking! Sebastian Rivers attends the shaving: "This I gotta see!"
The shaving scene is actually very hot, as Danny lathers up Casteel's entire front torso and carefully shaves him. "It will be easier to shave if you're hard, OK?" Roddick tells Casteel. "Come on, get it up and out of the way!" Casteel does—and Roddick ends up shaving his ass, too.
Dean Phoenix
Another amusing moment: Dean Phoenix sits on the stairs of the XXX frat house, dejected, since his girlfriend has refused to have sex with him—because his dick is too big! It turns out Dean's father had the same problem, but let's not go into how Dean knows that.
Danny asks to see Dean's cock, and while I wouldn't say it's too big, it is definitely up there. Danny gives Dean the blowjob of his life. In an unexpected twist, Danny puts Dean on a table and eats his ass until Dean jerks off into his own mouth! Not what we normally see from Dean Phoenix.
Eventually, Danny and Jan figure out who the closeted and homophobic member of the house is who has been watching gay porn (Buckshot Productions' Boot Black Blues, to be specific) and thereby discovered by Danny's true identity as a porn star. The two lovers sixty-nine one last time (nice cum shot on Jan's part) before Danny gets to attempt his big plan: out the closeted frat member in front of the entire house!
Despite its tragic circumstances, Brotherhood is a very hot movie; I predict numerous GayVN awards!
