House Protections for Gay Workers: Civil Rights Victory or Betrayal? The House of Representatives approved a bill on Wednesday that would grant broad protections against discrimination to gay, lesbian and bisexual workers.
Previously there had been no protection against discrimination based on homosexuality. However, some are saying that the version of the bill that passed, which excludes transsexuals, was a betrayal.
Either way, Bush threatened to veto an earlier version of the bill. A White House spokesman said they would need to review recent changes before making a final decision.
